  • Marmot Grind, A-Basin, April 24, 2010 The Marmot Grind is an awesome randonee race held at the end of the season at the legendary A-Basin. This year it actually was a powder day, and so it was crazy crowded. I actually missed the start of my heat because of traffic. This is an action filled race, an uphill and downhill madness. Summit County is home to many racer types, and this little adventure is one that keeps giving the hurt. Many sports are for the aerobically inclined, and this is sure one, for sure in part because of the altitude. I shot this with a Canon 7D. I was actually racing, and with the race starting at around 10500 ft, I was a little out of breath here and there. I was taking pics and video, and it's definitely tricky to do all that, especially when you're racing. I love doing this kind of thing and am really making a push to do more of it. Action sports, adventure sports, lifestyle sports, whatever you want to call 'em, I like doing them and covering them. COSMIC is the race promoter of all this wackiness, and Pete does a great job of hooking up with really cool sponsors like CAMP, Ski Trab, Scarpa, and Dynafit.
