  • DIY Acid Alkaline electrolizer for plant diese I constructed this device to see if making acid water with an electrolyzer could be done and if it would kill mildew on my fruit trees. I know a lot of people like to drink the alkaline water, but I think there is a more interesting possible use of the acid water. Treating plants to kill mold and mildew without using chemicals. Many "water ionizer" devices depend on the addition of ordinary salt to make the water more conductive. Electrolysis of a dilute sodium chloride solution liberates hydrogen gas and hydroxide ions at the cathode, producing an alkaline solution that consists essentially of sodium hydroxide NaOH which can be drawn off as alkaline water. At the anode, chloride ions are oxidized to elemental chlorine. If some of this chlorine is allowed to combine with some of the hydroxide ions produced at the cathode, it disproportionates into hypochlorous acid HOCl, a weak acid and an oxidizing agent. Some ionizer devices allow the user to draw off this solution for use as a disinfecting agent. In many cases the two streams can be combined to form a mixture consisting of both HOCl and sodium hypochlorite (equivalent to diluted ordinary laundry bleach but not the same), depending on the pH desired.

  • "Acid Rain" Original Song By Wikipedia Lyrics: The term acid rain or more accurately acid precipitation is commonly used to mean the deposition of acidic components in rain, snow, dew, or dry particles. Acid rain occurs when sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are emitted into the atmosphere, undergo chemical transformations, and are absorbed by water droplets in clouds. The droplets then fall to earth as rain, snow, mist, dry dust, hail, or sleet. This increases the acidity of the soil, and affects the chemical balance of lakes and streams. The term "acid rain" is sometimes used more generally to include all forms of acid deposition — both wet deposition, where acidic gases and particles are removed by rain or other precipitation, and dry deposition removal of gases and particles to the Earth's surface in the absence of precipitation. Acid rain is defined as any type of precipitation with a pH that is unusually low. Dissolved carbon dioxide dissociates to form weak carbonic acid giving a pH of approximately 5.6 at typical atmospheric concentrations of CO2. Therefore a pH of less than 5.6 has sometimes been used as a definition of acid rain. However, natural sources of acidity mean that in remote areas, rain has a pH which is between 4.5 and 5.6 with an average value of 5.0 and so rain with a pH of less than 5 is a more appropriate definition. The US EPA says, "Acid rain is a serious environmental problem that affects large parts of the US and Canada." Acid rain accelerates weathering in carbonate rocks and ...

  • 18. Amide, Carboxylic Acid and Alkyl Lithium Freshman Organic Chemistry (CHEM 125) This lecture completes the first half of the semester by ***yzing three functional groups in terms of the interaction of localized atomic or pairwise orbitals. Many key properties of biological polypeptides derive from the mixing of such localized orbitals that we associate with "resonance" of the amide group. The acidity of carboxylic acids and the aggregation of methyl lithium into solvated tetramers can be understood in ***ogous terms. More amazing than the panoply of modern experimental and theoretical tools is that their results would not have surprised traditional organic chemists who already had developed an understanding of organic structure with much cruder tools. The next quarter of the semester is aimed at understanding how our scientific predecessors developed the structural model and nomenclature of organic chemistry that we still use. Complete course materials are available at the Open Yale Courses website: open.yale.edu This course was recorded in Fall 2008.

  • Using citric acid for rust removal Citric acid can be bought from drugstore (they use it in jelly or such to adjust acidity) but it is very expensive there. Therefore Finnish rodders buy it from some agriculture-store. It is not expensive. Officially it is used as pigs obstruent! I dipped those parts in citric acid for overnight, next day brushed it with wirebrush and flushed it with water. Then again back to citric acid over night and wirebrushed + flushed it next day. Flushing is important, you'll want to get all acid away, otherwise steel will turn to yellow. You can't use this method on all parts because of hydrogen embrittlement. So no pedals, frames, brake drums, engine blocks or such to citric acid!!! And yeah, parts should be clean -I've cleaned 'em with fuel- because grease will neutralize acid. Ratio was 3% Parts must be dried soon as you get them flushed, I quess you guys know why... Music on the background: Junior Brown; "Sugarfoot Rag"
  • Acid Alkaline Diet Foods * Alkaline Foods * SHOP.life- * http * REBOUND.life- * The foundation of all alkaline diets is to of course alkalize the body by consuming alkalizing foods! I personally have found that green juice is the best way to alkalize your body and feed your cells with fructose... ONLY the type of fructose that one would find in the form of whole, juiced or blended tree-ripened fruits. The extracted & processed form of fructose that you might see listed in processed foods is NOT a healthy choice. Don't be afraid to ask the produce manager at the store to sample the fruits before buying them, so you can make sure they are good. They will gladly allow you to do this... especially if you are nice! ;) Prioritize on being able to afford high quality food for yourself, as you are worth it! It is much better to spend money on building healthy, functioning cells for your own body, instead of later having to pay even more in doctors and hospital bills! You will be removing obstructions that potentially had been clogging up your thyroid gland, adrenals, thymus gland, and your heart... which all could have experienced some calcification with hydrogenated oils, starchy carbohydrates, spices & food additives which are really just acidic chemicals! These chemicals might stimulate in ways that temporarily feel good to your taste buds & your energy level, but they also create scarring inside the body's tissues... which then leads to inflammation... & then potentially to what is known ...

  • Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) Production In The Stomach Animation This is a quick animation of how HCl is produced in the stomach. So this was extra credit for a class and I didn't have much time to go more in detail. I apologize for any errors that the animation might have. I also included what I was saying, because I know some people learn better if they are able to read it. Hydrochloric Acid Production in the cell •In order to protect the cells from the damaging acidity of hydrochloric acid, the parietal cell has to produce the components of HCl separately. •Histamine, Gastrin, and ACh will bind to receptors on the parietal cell. This initiates the HCl production process. All three chemicals have to bind to cell in order for this process to occur, otherwise hydrochloric production won't happen. •Carbon dioxide diffuses into the cell, and the enzyme carbonic anhydrase catalyzes the reaction between carbon dioxide and water to form carbonic acid. •Carbonic acid dissociates into bicarbonate ion and hydrogen ion. As the bicarbonate ion accumulates into the cell, bicarbonate ion is ejected through the basal cell membrane into the capillary blood. As a result, blood draining from the stomach is more alkaline than the blood serving it, this is known as the alkaline tide. •The bicarbonate/chloride antiporter in the plasma membrane exchanges bicarbonate molecules going out for chloride ions coming in. This is known as a chloride shift. •ATP will bind to the hydrogen/potassium ATPase, where potassium ions are counter transported into the ...

  • EMC-MAC Plus - THE DANGER BEHIND ACIDITY AND DEPRIVED MINERALS EMC or MAC Plus is a crystal-clear, water-thin liquid food supplement that may be taken like a refreshing drink or applied topically. It is a product of Nano Technology that is a far more energized and concentrated oxygen-rich supplement processed to a BILLIONTH scaled-down nanometric measure reduction, converting it to water-thin liquidity of nanoscale mineral materials that literally boosts strength, lengthens endurance, increasing disease-resistance, and almost eliminating fatigue even in the advent of physical stress and capable of lighting the bulb from a distance because of increased radial energy that exudes from the body. A modern-day fountain of youth, EMC or MAC Plus is equipped with micro-nutrients essential to life, cell regeneration and repair. Therefore, it is also the best answer to retard the aging process. The body is positively charged when it is tired, sick or weak. EMC or MAC Plus is highly oxygenated and is quickly transported by the bloodstream to the different organ systems of the body. MAC Plus is quickly absorbed by the cellular units increasing its efficiency. Its negative ions counter-balance the positive ions in the weak or sick body, therefore maximizes its potency to achieve an almost perfect body homeostasis or harmonious internal environment. It also increases pH of acidic cancerous cells or potentially malignant cells but not of normal cells unlike in the case of other cancer treatments or preventives.

  • Acid and Alkaline foods - Shopping with Dr. Ash Dr. Ash Shops for himself and picks up some cashews, coconut flakes, and whole, organic coconuts. All these things make your body more alkaline, so when you eat 80% of the foods that make your body more alkaline, you've got a chance at a great diet. Still, you could eat 20% acidic, but most people are eating so much sugar and carbohydrate heavy food, that they're eating 80% acidic and 20% alkaline. Proteins, sugars, carbs ... it's most of the American diet. If you just switch it around and eat 80% alkaline and 20% acidic, at least you're not going to put things in that are going to over-acidify your body. As you over-acidify your body, you lose calcium, you lose magnesium ... you trigger autoimmune disease and a whole bunch of other downstream consequences. So you'll need supplementation; you can't just do it with the foods, but that's a start. Using the right nutrients and supplementation that are alkaline-forming is important. Most vitamins are acidic-forming, or they don't take into account the ability to make your body more alkaline like the Pure Essentials brand can. Sweetness Substitutes? I think that if you use the whole gamut of low-glycemic index foods (watermelon, strawberries, blueberries - the whole fruit rather than just the juices), and surely you can juice with a lot of the green juices that are alkaline forming, too, but if you manage your logistics and have this done so you can have it available to you wherever you are, it gives you a better shot to be ...
  • ALKALINITY vs. ACIDITY When the body is acidic, yeast, bacteria, viruses and cancer can thrive. Conversely, when the body is alkaline, foreign bacteria, viruses, yeast and cancer can not live. Our body has a natural balance called homeostasis. When we are too acidic, minerals, such as calcium, are leached from our bones to help alkalize the body. Another way our body tries to protect us from acid is to buffer it with fat and store it in the body.
  • Make Hydrochloric Acid We show how to make hydrochloric acid from sodium bisulfate and table salt. The synthesis is rather simple, we generate hydrogen chloride gas by mixing together 140g of sodium bisulfate and 60g of sodium chloride salt and then heating. 20mL of water can be added to lower the temperature required but this is optional. Hydrogen chloride gas will be produced. This gas is lead into distilled water to produce hydrochloric acid. Be careful though, hydrogen chloride is so soluble that the water will pull itself into the tube trying to absorb it. In the video i use an elaborate back-flow prevention system to prevent loss of the product. Sodium bisulfate is available as a pH lowering chemical. 30mL of sulfuric acid may be used as a replacement if you have it. Although if you had that, you probably don't need hydrochloric acid.

  • Do Plant Enzymes Survive Through Stomach Acid? Part 1 The National Enzyme Company (founded by Dr. Edward Howell) set out to prove once and for all that plant based enzymes survive the acid stomach. They conducted an experiment described on the web site . I will summarize their study here. ***yzing digestion of the same meal, the researchers carried out four different tests the meal without the digestive enzyme blend under perfect digestive conditions, the meal with the digestive enzyme blend under perfect digestive conditions, the meal without the digestive enzyme blend with 70% reduced gastric and intestinal secretion, and the meal with the digestive enzymes under the impaired digestion model. Samples collected at various times during the digestion process were ***yzed for glucose and nitrogen content, demonstrating carbohydrate and protein digestion, respectively. The enzymes improved the bioavailability of both proteins and carbohydrates in the lumen of the small intestine, not only under impaired digestive conditions, but also in healthy human digestion. Glucose availability was increased four-fold in the "perfect" digestive system and by seven times in the impaired digestion model. Proteins were twice as bioavailable in the impaired digestive process. The activity of any digestive enzyme supplement in the small intestine "presupposes that the enzymes survive the acidity of the stomach."

  • Oceans failing the acid test, UN says It's your fault (CNN) -- The chemistry of the world's oceans is changing at a rate not seen for 65 million years, with far-reaching implications for marine biodiversity and food security, according to a new United Nations study released Thursday. "Environmental Consequences of Ocean Acidification," published by the UN Environmental Program (UNEP)," warns that some sea organisms including coral and shellfish will find it increasingly difficult to survive, as acidification shrinks the minerals needed to form their skeletons. Lead author of the report Carol Turley, from the UK's Plymouth Marine Laboratory said in a statement: "We are seeing an overall negative impact from ocean acidification directly on organisms and on some key ecosystems that help provide food for billions. We need to start thinking about the risk to food security." Tropical reefs provide shelter and food for around a quarter of all known marine fish species, according to the UN report, while over one billion people rely on fish as a key source of protein. Increasing acidification is likely to affect the growth and structural integrity of coral reef, the study says, and coupled with ocean warming could limit the habitats of crabs, mussels and other shellfish with knock-on effects up and down the food chain. The report, unveiled during the latest round of UN climate talks in Cancun, Mexico, says that around a quarter of the world's CO2 emissions are currently being absorbed by the oceans, where they are turned into ...

Its secretion is a complex and relatively energetically expensive process. Parietal cells contain an extensive secretory network (called c***iculi) from which the gastric acid is secreted into the lumen of the stomach. These cells are part of epithelial fundic glands in the gastric mucosa. The pH of gastric acid is 2 to 3 in the human stomach lumen, the acidity being maintained by the proton pump H+/K+ ATPase. The parietal cell releases bicarbonate into the blood stream in the process, which causes the temporary rise of pH in the blood, known as alkaline tide. The resulting highly acidic environment in the stomach lumen causes proteins from food to lose their characteristic folded structure (or denature). This exposes the protein's peptide bonds. The chief cells of the stomach secrete enzymes for protein breakdown (inactive pepsinogen and renin). Gastric acid activates pepsinogen into pepsinthis enzyme then helps digestion by breaking the bonds linking amino acids, a process known as proteolysisThere are three phases in the secretion of gastric acid: The cephalic phase: 30% of the total gastric acid to be produced is stimulated by anticipation of eating and the smell or taste of food. The gastric phase: 60% of the acid secreted is ...

  • Do you have Acid Reflux? Could it be what your drinking? If not treated, severe acid reflux can result in some very serious problems. This is why managing acid reflux disease is so important. Here we look at some conditions that can be a result of severe acid reflux and also some suggestions for managing acid reflux disease. Severe acid reflux can lead to esophagitis. The esophagus is the tube that carries food from the mouth to the stomach. Muscles in the lower esophagus normally prevent stomach acid from coming back up into the esophagus, but when a person suffers from mild, moderate or severe acid reflux, the muscles do not stop the acid from entering the esophagus and this stomach acid can cause pain and inflammation of the esophagus, which is caused esophagitis. Managing acid reflux disease is all about preventing acid from leaking back up into the esophagus. Sometimes, when severe acid reflux damages the lining of the esophagus, scarring and narrowing of the esophagus occurs. This scarring and narrowing is called strictures and can prevent food and liquids from reaching the stomach. Since strictures affect the ability to eat and drink, it must be treated by stretching and enlarging the esophagus to prevent other health problems that can arise from a lack of proper nutrition. Managing acid reflux disease, before it becomes severe can prevent damage to the esophagus, thus preventing strictures from forming. In cases where severe acid reflux results in esophagitis, esophageal bleeding or ulcers may occur. A condition called ...
  • Acid Alkaline Balance In The Body Increasing your body's alkalinity at a cellular level can enable radical changes for the better in your health. Change the environment and you often change the outcome. The predominance of refined foods and other toxins prevalent today has made our bodies much more acidic, and this is a major factor in the remarkable level of disease in our society today. In my practice in London, alkalyzing patients is an integral part of my treatment strategy in helping patients back to a state of wellness. To learn more about Dr. Young's work, visit http While restoring and maintaining body and cellular pH isn't the only important factor in establishing optimum health, it is one of the most important steps we can take based on my own study and clinical experience. You may or may not agree with some of Robert Young's points made here, but his overall message is an important one. It is unfortunate that it is going ignored by so many GPs today. Hopefully that will change. Please post your experiences with shifting your own alkaline/acid pH balance here. I will be updating my own Website within the next two weeks to include information about naturopathy, pH balance, and my own naturopathic services here in London.
  • No More Heartburn, Acid Reflux or GERD without Pharmaceuticals Everyday 70000000 people suffer from some form of digestive issue (heartburn, acid reflux, GERD, IBS, indigestion constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain, etc.). To relieve their symptoms people turn to Tums , Rolaids , Zantac , Tagamet , or the more dangerous, PPIs Proton Pump Inhibitors] (Nexium®, Prevacid®, Prilosec®, Protonics®, etc.). People over age 50 who take these drugs [proton pump inhibitors] for more than one year have a 44% increased risk of breaking a hip. PPIs inhibit the body from producing stomach acid. However, some stomach acid is needed to absorb calcium, which is needed for healthy bones. The inability to absorb calcium may be the cause of the increased risk for osteoporosis.1 Mice treated with prescription drugs called proton pump inhibitors or PPIs, like Prilosec and Prevacid, which block acid production, acquired more bacteria and developed more inflammatory changes in their stomach linings than untreated mice.2 Pathogenic bacteria thrives in an alkaline environment; therefore, medications taken to reduce stomach acid could actually increase the risk of developing pneumonia. The incidence rate of pneumonia in those who took acid-suppressive drugs was 2.45 out of every 100 people a year. This was compared to 0.6 among those who didn't take acid-suppressive drugs.3 If you inhibit gastric acid production, you interfere with the stomach's natural defense mechanism. Reduced gastric acidity does appear to make the mammalian stomach more ...
