ACADIA NATIONAL PARK Maine The Acadia National Park is located in the North Eastern region of Maine in the United States and measures 142 square kilometres. The close proximity of the North Atlantic Ocean to the coastal forest landscape is one of the park's irresistible attractions. During fall, the season in which New England is at its most magnificent, the forests come alive with soft, warm colors and the entire landscape becomes transformed by this 'fifth season' of the year. Thunder Hole is a further attraction. Onlookers seem almost awestruck when witnessing the relentless might of the Atlantic and the unexpected sound of thunder that emanates from a small cave within the granite cliffs caused by the sea as it floods into the air-filled cave, thus releasing the air pressure from within with fantastic, thunderous effect. Loop Road is a scenic route that travels from the coast to the countryside while passing a picturesque and charming semi-timbered house, the Jordan Pond Gate House, built by John D. Rockefeller in1932. Created from a glacier, Jordan Pond is relatively deep. At its northern end, there are two round hills, the 'Bubbles', from the summit of which the vast landscape of the glowing forest below is even more impressive. Thunder Hole Acadia National Park- Hurrican Bill 08/23/2009 We took this clip of Thunder Hole in Acadia National Park at about 11:30am on August 23, 2009, while standing at the top of the observation area. The stairs below had already been closed off and there was a row of spectators just below us on the trail when a large wave rolled in and reached them. Just after this wave a park ranger moved people out of that area. About a half hour later/noon, a rogue wave came in and swept a group of people off the rocks near Thunder Hole and 3 were pulled into the surf. Very sadly a 7 year old girl drowned.

A DAY IN ACADIA NATIONAL PARK ACADIA NATIONAL PARK INFORMATION SITE video begins at Blackwoods Campground. We caught the free Island explorer shuttle bus there. We then began shooting photos of the campground, to give ya all a taste of what it looks like. Took the service road that runs behind the campground to the park loop road overlooking the ocean. Walked down to the stone bridge (Acadia is full of these stone bridges) and from there got onto the Otter Cliffs trail which winds along the ocean cliffs. At one point, a deer was stading by the edge of the road, we shot him also (not with a gun...hahaha) and finally came out at THUNDER HOLE area, with its metal rail fence leading down to thunder hole. We tried to squeeze shots of Sand Beach i, but the sun was quickly goin down. It ends at the fee station. Sorry about the minor glitches in the soundtrack I made...they wre not there when I added it to the video. I had to go back nd edit the vieo in places to make it shorter, and I think I might ave accidently snagged onto thye music track in a couple places. But overall, I think it came out pretty good. Let me know what you think...
